Absolutely, Medium is a great community. And yeah, followers don't count for much these days. About 99% of the ones I have don't really read me. So if you want to stay in touch with a writer, you really have to subscribe to them. Otherwise, you're at the mercy of the Medium algorithm, which will sadly hide most of the posts of your favorite writers from you.
