Amen! After a set time, let me as a reader transfer the 50% to the general member pool OR to some other writer of my choosing.

Even better, let me distribute my 50% among more than one writer if I want. It would be as simple as allowing me to become a "patron" for, let's say, up to 3 writers and have my 50% be equally distributed among them.

That way I could explicitly reward my current favorite writers. This could be a game changer for the writers I love who publish poetry, comics, and other types of stories that simply don't earn because they don't have long read times or mass appeal.

And I'd be even more ecstatic if Medium allowed me as a reader to increase my monthly subscription to above $5 so that I have even more money available to reward my favorites!

I'd be even fine if Medium took a cut of that extra. Just make it easy for me to support individual writers I love!
