Ev, I think it's great to incentivize us writers to grow the pie for everyone while at the same time giving us an opportunity to have a more stable income. I really applaud that. But as a reader, I think it's a little weird that even after having been for 10 years on Medium, half my subscription would still go to that one writer who referred me a decade ago (especially if by then I'm no longer their fan and would much rather support someone else with my 50%).

Maybe I could cancel my subscription and sign up again through someone else's referral page as a workaround. But I'd much rather have an easier way to decide a decade later who gets half of what I pay every month.
