Ha, yeah. Having a central place where everything goes into makes it so much easier to find things again :-)

As to the software you bought and it’s steep learning curve, if it doesn’t work out for you, you can always try an alternative. The good thing about Zettelkasten is that it’s a method and that it can be implemented with many different tools.
