Hey, Johnny. The piece is mostly addressed to fellow perfectionists who obsess way too much about the quality of their writing to the detriment of their career.

I agree that no writer desires to be mediocre. I certainly don’t want to. The problem, however, is that some writers are so afraid of coming across as mediocre that they spend foolish amounts of effort and time on polishing their pieces. So I think these types of writers, which includes me, should indeed hear the message that “It’s okay if you aren’t writing great! People like things that aren’t so great!”

Keep in mind that what a perfectionist considers mediocre, might still be pretty good in other people’s eyes.

And yeah, The Irishman and Sandler movies are certainly addressing different niches. I wouldn’t argue with that :-)
