The beauty of the Zettelkasten method is that it doesn’t try to fight entropy and it doesn’t try to neatly categorize or index your notes.
In fact, the Zettelkasten method is all about embracing entropy. In information theory, entropy is expected surprisal and the whole point of the Zettelkasten method is to maximize entropy (to be surprised as frequently as possible).
Luhmann put over 90,000 notes in his Zettelkasten in a time span of 40 years and he continuously let himself be surprised by what he found in it. When it comes to Zettelkasten, the more entropy, the better :-)
