I believe death is final and that thought is much more comforting to me than the alternative of there never being an end.

Keep in mind that eternity is mind-bogglingly long. Just imagine you could live forever. After 100 years, you're still there. After 1,000 years, you're still there. After 10,000 years? No luck. You still have to keep on living. After 100,000 years? Sorry, you're still around. After 1,000,000 years? Well, there you are. After 1,000,000,000 years? You still have to keep going. Even after 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years, you would STILL be living some sort of existence. That, to me, sounds like a nightmare. I wouldn't wish that onto anyone and especially not on the loved ones I've lost.

A movie or a book isn't better just because it's longer. In my view, life is the same.
