I love how you’re geeking out on time machines, Philip!

Just one question, our planet is moving through space, right? So if the time machine would be firmly anchored in space, as you say, that means it would remain in a fixed position within the Universe. But that’s not what the Earth does. It doesn’t remain in a fixed position. It moves. So if you are anchored in space, Earth would continue on its merry way, leaving you behind. Isn’t that the scenario I was describing?

Unless you could remain anchored in a fixed position relative to the surface of the Earth. That would probably indeed solve the main issue!
