If I start posting links and quotes and other very short content, can that penalize me in some way?

I’m wondering because until now if you had good long form stories, you got rewarded with being curated and having your stories reach a wider audience. But those who didn’t publish well written stories and published too much mediocre content seemed to get blacklisted and had a hard time getting curated (hence the mythical “curation jail”).

In other words, if you did anything but publish well-crafted stories, there was a chance that it could harm you.

So I’m wary of posting links and quotes. I don’t want the algorithm (or the medium curators) to put me into something equivalent to curation jail.

Also, can the sharing of quotes and links earn you money? What about single pictures if I’m a photographer or cartoonist?
