Backstory

I always found the implications of deceased loved ones actually being with us a little unsettling. I mean, for one, I don’t want my dad to be watching over me all the time. For two, I’m pretty sure my dad wouldn’t want to watch over me either. He’d probably be much happier zipping around to exotic locations and visiting the occasional Apple Store instead of being stuck with me.

Also, how exactly would it work? Are there three copies of my dad floating around? One that’s with me, another that’s with my brother, and another that’s with my mom? Or does he watch over us from a sort of heavenly CCTV control room? If so, that sounds like a terribly boring job!

Nah, I’m actually much happier thinking he’s gone for good, free from the daily dramas and tedium, back to the same place he was at before he was conceived.

I miss you, dad, but I sure hope you have no more obligations :)
