PLATITUDES

On Life’s Fairness, Winning vs Losing, and Caring about Money

Snarky remarks on platitudes I had to endure this week

--

Social media is full of platitudes — trite remarks that intent to be profound. You find them on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and pretty much every other platform. And people like and re-share them as if they were divine wisdom. Everyone just seems to be very pleased with themselves and how wise they all are.

But I think they’re dumb.

Here are three such platitudes I encountered this week and what I would have replied if I didn’t care about being nice.

“Give up thinking life is unfair”

“The difference between winning and losing is not quitting”

“Once you stop caring about money, the money will come”

Have you encountered any annoyingly smug platitudes this week?
