Thanks, Kristina.
A lead magnet is a free giveaway people can get when they sign up for a newsletter, right?
I don't have that. I heard conflicting advice about it. Some say it only attracts freebie-seekers. Others say it's essential.
What I do have is this:
1. A few ways in which fans can support me (a handful do): http://tinyurl.com/support-davidbclear
2. A free weekly newsletter where I share friend links to my latest stories and comics: https://clearwriting.substack.com (~350 subscribers, 24% open rate)
So far I don't have any plans of selling anything. It's mostly because I feel like my audience is still way too small to justify the effort of building something I can sell — especially because it would detract me from increasing my reach on Medium (A year ago I had 1.2K followers. Now I’m at 13.1K.)
I've started investing more time on Twitter since there are various ways on the horizon to monetize followers there (tips and superfollows, i.e., subscriber-only content.) But I am still a teeny tiny fish over there: https://twitter.com/davidbclear
I am open to advice and ideas though :)
