That’s a very good point, Rakesh! Success stories do give hope. Well, at least some of them do.

I mean, you’re right that if I hadn’t read an occasional success story, I might have lost much of my motivation a long time ago. But thanks to these stories, I know there’s a real possibility (however remote) to make a living from publishing words online.

It’s just that way too many of these stories completely fail to acknowledge the role of luck. Some of them even go so far as to imply that it must be your fault if you’re not succeeding after a couple of months. And that’s simply something I entirely disagree with. You may be doing something wrong, but you may just as well be doing everything right and still fail. In that latter case, having it repeatedly hammered into your head that it’s your own fault for not succeeding just leads to a lot of frustration and the exact opposite of hope.

Anyway, thanks for reading, for praising my silly cartoons, and for raising this important point! :-)
