Very good point. And I do thank my undue privilege every day. But don’t think I’m rich by western standards. I’m definitely not (I make less than minimum wage, am surviving on savings I made as a student, and I can count on the support of my wife, who makes a bit more than me by working in a cheap hotel kitchen).

Even so, I acknowledge that I’ve absolutely won the lottery of birth: I have a European passport and I can earn money in dollars or euros, which gives me a huge unfair advantage over anyone earning in rupees, pesos, kip, riel, dong, etc. So if I make $300 in a month, I’m already making way more than most people on this planet and that money is enough to allow me to travel in many parts of the world.
