Yeah, I agree that being a literary snob is pretty pointless. My point though was not so much that people should be reading more "great pieces of literature.” My point was that on the Internet doomer posts, misinformation, outrage porn, knee-jerk punditry, propaganda, fake news, etc. dominate. And I do think that matters quite a bit because these kinds of pieces make people unhappy, skew their worldview, and have real-world consequences if people act on them :)
